end of year reflection2013

I can't believe the school year is ending! It does go by quickly! I take Active Learning at school which is physical education and is so much more than just playing game in the gym like elementary school was. I did miss several Active Learning classes due to colds or doctors appointments so my attendance could have been better. I did give each class my best effort.  My overall fitness has improved. Things like running are getting easier. I suppose why it is easier to run is that I have been practising more.  We run at ball practise and our games which are at least twice a week and then there is all the running in Active Learning classes at school.  I wanted to be more fit and that starts with running. I bring a positive attitude to class. I also bring a smile. Even when I don't want to be in gym I still smile and go with it.

Physical education means you know about your body. You know what your limits are and I have gained the confidence to push those limits.  I plan to continue physical activity into the summer break.  I work with my therapist at SunGod Recreation Centre.  We work in the gym on balance and right arm movements and then the next day we go into the pool for cardio and stretching.  Its fun  but work at the same time.  Our clubhouse has a pool that is fun to swim in, not big enough to do laps but keeps me outside and active with my friends.

I also learned about nutrition this year in my Foods class.  It taught me that some foods are very bad, loaded with chemicals and empty calories while some foods give my body the energy it needs.

The letter grad I give myself for my Grade 8 Active Learning at Sullivan Heights High School is a B

Love playing fastpitch !

My team is the Cloverdale Devils. We are a Peewee team (age 13-14 year old).  We are doing great this year with a winning record.  We have lots of fun, laugh, playball and exercise.  My dad is the assistant coach and my mom is the team manager.  I play right field and am known for slap bunting the ball.  I get to first base safe almost half of the times I am up to bat.  Here are a few pictures from our tournament at Cloverdale Athletic Park May 10-12, 2013

active learning midterm-kira bennett

My overall fitness has improved a  lot . I come prepared ready to have fun and on fitness days, sweat. I participate and give my all on fitness days because those days are the days when i get a great workout while having fun. I help the class success by trying my best and smiling. Struggling days have been capture the flag days. My fitness goals are to get stronger and healthier. Leadership means to lead the class with a smile on your face. I would like to improve my core strength. I think i still am at a B for my letter grade.

Reflections of semester 1 Active Learning Grade 8

During Active Learning this year I try every class to give my best.  I am always willing to be a part of a team and follow what the team leader says. I prepare myself by having my gym strip on and being on time for class.  I am willing and usually excited to try all activities.

My best days are when we are doing activities that I enjoy, like, badminton and being in the weight room.  Days I struggle with are when I don`t feel 100% and have low energy.  I know this is because I may have been out at Youth group the night before or up a little later than I should have been.  My disability is a challenge but it does not stop me from trying hard and participating in all activities in whatever way that I can.

I feel that I contribute to the overall success of the class because I try to come with a positive attitude everyday.  I know from my life that anything is possible if you try hard.  I try to be positive and strong but I know that I can complain sometimes.  I am glad that Mr. Neufeld keeps pushing me while smiling at me!  :)

I love the other students in the class and I have some fiends in the class as well.  I find that we chat and really care about each other by offering encouraging words to each other.

Fitness days were challenging the first few times and I admit I didn`t like it but now I like being able to push myself.  I can see myself getting better at basic fitness like running.  I really enjoy stations because we get to do different things and not the same thing for 40 minutes straight.  I have fitness goals of getting stronger and fitter.  I would like to improve my cardio.

Leadership is setting a good example by trying your hardest and pushing others in a  positive way to do their best.  I feel the best leaders in our class are Rashmital and many other Grade 9s. I find that they push you and don`t want you to fail.

I am most proud of the fact that I can do activities this year that I could not do before like the hill run and the circuits.
